Underage Training
Under age ( 6 -12 )training ended for the year on Saturday last with refreshments for parents and players in the clubhouse after training. We would like to thank all the coaches who gave of their time during the year and look forward to seeing everyone when training resumes in 09.

Under 16 Semi-final The Downs 3:6 St Marys 2:12
We travelled to Rochfortbridge on Saturday evening to take on the home side. Despite a slow start The Downs overcame a five point deficit to lead by two at half time 3:4 to 0:8.
With the game entering added time we trailed by a point but St Marys added two points to make sure of the win. Team: Kevin McGuire, Conor Thompson, Adam Corcoran, Niall Murray, Cian Carthy, Luke McCabe, Niall O’Doherty, Brendan Flynn, Niall Folan, Kevin Smullen, Shane Carroll, Cathal Scally, David Newman. Minor Semi-Final The Downs 1:17 Tubberclare 1:7
After a hesitant start The Downs controlled this game leading 1:9 to 0:5 at halftime and continued to dominate the second half winning by ten points Team Niall O’Doherty, Adam Corcoran, Shane Egerton, Kevin Bell, Adam Price, Ben Hogan, Trevor McCormack, Alan Finch, David McDermott, Mark Conroy, Sean McCormack, Harry Caulfield, Niall Folan, Alan McGrath, David Smith, Subs Used: Shane Brogan, Gary Conroy.
Pat Walsh Cup
On Saturday evening we played an under 10 blitz for the Pat Walsh Memorial Cup with two teams from The Downs, Milltown and Kinnegad taking part. The Downs won out in a thrilling final with Milltown, The cup was presented to the winning team by Cian Carthy grandson of the late Pat Walsh. Thanks to all the teams for taking part.
Sympathy

Under 10
Our under 10 team took part in a blitz in St Lomans on Saturday, we played Rochfortbridge, Ballinagore, St Lomans, we then met Kinnegad the other undefeated team in the final game and in a thrilling game emerged with a two point win. Well done to this young team who showed great determination and skill throughout the games and to their young coaches Aoife Rowan and Mary Lynam who were very successful in their first year of coaching year.
