The Downs 2-06 Ballycomoyle 2-04
We travelled to Ballycomoyle on Wednesday evening and facing a physically bigger team we found it difficult to get scores and went in at halftime 0-01 to 0-04 down. Within minutes of the restart we conceded a goal 0-01 to 1-04 and with ten minutes remaining were 0-03 to 2-04 behind. But this team doesn’t know when they are beaten and put in a storming last quarter to get a win they thoroughly deserved.

On Wednesday last we met Milltownpass at home. In a close and competitive first half both teams were level at halftime 0-04. Ten minutes into the second half The Downs scored a goal a margin that they maintained to the end.

Set Dancers
On Saturday our Junior Set Dancers brought further honour to The Downs when they won the under 18 set dancing competition in the all Ireland Fleadh in Letterkenny. Well done to the dancers Jean Moran , Michelle Flynn, Emily Crowley, Mary Lynam, Kyle Casey, Kevin McGuire, Niall Folen, Stuart Macken, and a special thanks to Alice and Brenda Deihy who continue to dedicate so much of their time to ensure that our set dancers achieve the highest standards.
Family Fun and Coaching Day
Our Family Fun and Coaching Day on Saturday was great success with over 120 children participating. Thanks to all the coaches and everyone connected with the day in making it a success.

Darren Price Commemorative Night
On Friday the 8th of September there is a Commemorative Night for Darren Price in the club house with an auction for signed inter-county jerseys and other spot prizes Music on the night by Moon Dance and The Frets. Subscription €5. Proceeds will aid the purchase of medical equipment for Westmeath GAA .

Tickets are available for the All-Ireland Football Final Tickets Draw €10 each.
