Under 16 League The Downs 2:7 Tyrellspass 1:7
The first half was a very evenly contested The Downs playing against a strong breeze, opened the scoring after 8 minutes with a point. Soon afterwards The Downs added another point to go two clear. Tyrrellspass came more into the game and drew level after 20 minutes. Both teams traded two more points to leave the halftime score level on 4 points each. Tyrrellspass started the second half the livelier and took the lead by a point after 2 minutes The Downs replied on 5 minutes but on 10 minutes Tyrrellspass worked a well executed goal to take a 3 point lead. The Downs responded quickly when Geoffrey McCormack scored a goal. Tyrrellspass replied with a point. The turning point in the game came when The Downs were awarded a penalty after Geoffrey McCormack was taken down, Shane Carroll drilled the sport kick to the back of the net to leave The Downs ahead by two points. Tyrrellspass pressed hard in the closing minutes but The Downs defended well and had the final say after Kevin Smullen pointed from long range for the final score. Overall this was a good team performance with some excellent individual performances our team continues to improve in a very competitive division

Both our Teams had their third league games on Wednesday 22nd April.
Group A
The Downs “Black” 3:11 : Ballinacargy 1-9.
The Downs and Ballinacargy had a cracking game of football with many fine scores, especially the points that were scored by both teams.
Thanks to Eoin Coates for refereeing the game as well for us.
Group B
The Downs “Amber” V Kinnegad .
The “Ambers” played Kinnegad away a very sporting game and came away with an impressive win

North Westmeath Hospice Charity Cycle
Pauric Devine and Committee would like to thank The Downs GAA Club for the use of their excellent facilities on Sunday 19th. They would also like to thank all the people who took part in the Sligo and Family cycles and a special thanks to all who provided and helped out with the refreshments for the returning cyclists, it was greatly appreciated by all.

Under 12 The Downs V Loughnavalley
The Downs under 12 travelled to Loughnavalley on Tuesday last and notched up two points with an impressive win. Team: Amy Dagg, Kate Gallagher, Kate Gallagher, Siobhan Kearney, Aoife Kearney, Megan Keenaghan, Rebecca Kelly, Niamh Nolan, Meabh O’Connor, Laura O’Hara, Keelin Rowan, Niamh Rowan, Sarah Smith, Niamh Staunton, Clara Thorton, Natalie Ward, Laura Wynn, Naoise O’Donoghue, Roisin Rose, Serena Wynn, Chloe Gaffney, Ciara O’Doherty.
Under 16 League. The Downs V Killucan
On Thursday last we played our first game of the league, we started the game well and went into an early lead which we held at halftime. Killucan started the second half the livelier and drew level with a quarter to go, this spurred The Downs to up their performance and finished the game with an impressive scoring display to secure both points.

Under 18 League The Downs V St Pauls
On Saturday last we played St Pauls in our first game of the year, The Downs were slow to get into the game and St Pauls went into an early lead, but The Downs didn’t panic and at halftime were 2 point up. The second half saw The Downs build on their lead and emerge with an impressive win.
