Under 10
The under 10’s have been on the road over the last few weeks.
On Tuesday last they travelled to Ballycomoyle and had to work hard to overcome their determined hosts. On Saturday morning, a squad short a few regulars travelled to Tyrrellpass. Na Dunta had to give way to an impressive home side, losing out by a single score having led by two at the break. This was an exciting game of football produced by 2 well evenly matched sides. Panel for both games: Enda O’Rourke, Oisin Raleigh, Alex Henry, Paul Flynn, Jack Carroll, Conor Gavin, Keith Carroll, Joseph Moran, Donal Coughlan, Trevor Martin, Jonathan Lynam, Oisin Murphy, Luke Smith, Ryan Moran, Matthew Cunningham, Hugh O’Connor, Euan Lagan, Luke Maguire, Colin Smyth, Stephen Wynne. Training continues as on Fridays at 630pm and new players are always welcome. Matches will continue throughout August with blitzes scheduled for September – details will be given out at training.
U14 Championship Na Dunta 6.13 St Lomans 6.12
Last Thursday evening in the downs we had an epic battle with our neighbours which ended with a 1 pt win for our lads. In a game played with real championship passion both sides served up some excellent football. While it was tough throughout it was a game played in great spirits with little for the ref to do except mark down some excellent scores. We started well picking off some nice early points but we were rocked by 2 well taken goals in the first half. Just as half time approached we hit the front 1.8 to 2.04 with a well taken goal by Luke Loughlin from a 21m free.
Lomans hit terrific form early in the second half and we were 11 points down 10 min into the half after the outscored us 3.04 to 0.01 our only score a neatly taken point from Ian Martin. Then the fight back started and our backs and goalkeeper cleared everything that came their way. Jack Cully, Mark Kelly and Niall Cochrane all made a telling impact when introduced as replacements for guys who had given every ounce of energy they had. Ian Martin and Luke hit quick goals followed by 2 points from Luke and Jack when Dean Daly stepped up to score a cracking goal from 25 yards. We conceded 1.01 then before Jack and Luke hit a goal each. The game was in the melting pot when Luke pointed a pressure free and then followed a great move started by Eoghan Moore and finished with a massive point from out on the wing by Dean Daly to clinch a hard earned victory. Well done to all the lads and credit to St Lomans for their part in a great encounter. We need the victory to keep our hope alive in this championship while Lomans are probably already in the semifinals and this was the little edge we had on the day.
