Scór

All interest in the club was focused towards Killarney where our Solo Singer Jenny McNamee and Set Dancers (Brenda Deihy, Sinead Lynam, Sarah O’Hara, Yvonne Murphy, George Coyle, Colm Rowan, Greg Crowley, Conor Carley) were competing in the All-Ireland final. Jenny was the first of our representatives to take to the stage and gave her best performance to date, such was Jenny’s performance she was a firm favourite among the audience to take the honours. But unfortunately for Jenny the smallest of margins separated her from the winner.

The Downs were out first in the set dance and gave a flawless performance to set the standard for the competition The last competitors of the night Spa From Kerry met the challenge and piped The Downs at the post to take the honours, again by the smallest of margins and place The Downs into second place. Thanks to the musicians for providing the music for the set dancers all year Aiden Connaire and Grainne Noone and to Jeanine Redmond, Aidan O’Neill who joined them on the day and gave a brilliant performance. The club would like to thank all our competitors for all their hard work throughout the year in preparing for this competition, for representing the club at the highest level and giving the club a national profile. A special thanks to Alice Deihy who has now brought ten set dance groups to All-Ireland finals a tribute to her ability, dedication, hard work, love of set dancing and scor.

The Downs competitors would like to thank the large number of supporters who travelled the long journey to give them much appreciated support. Highlights from Scor will be on television on Friday night 5th May.
