Under 10
On Saturday week last, the under 10’s played in the North Westmeath League blitz in Killucan. The lads put in their best performance of the year to overcome a very impressive Coralstown / Kinnegad team. Well done to all concerned – thanks to Ned and Frank for arranging the blitz and league and to Killucan for being amenable hosts.
On Saturday we hosted our own annual under 10 blitz for the Pat Walsh Memorial Cup. This year’s tournament had an inter-county format with Ballivor of Meath, St. Vincent’s of Offaly and Cavan club Mullahoran participating. All teams put in great performances but the black and amber came through undefeated and retained the Cup which was presented to team captain Stephen Wynne by Paddy Walsh. Thanks to everyone who assisted in any way to make the day a success. A big thankyou to everyone who provided food on the day and a special thanks to Catriona and her team for looking after the catering. Thanks also to our referees Jody, Kyle and Dave. On this Saturday the under 10’s have a busy day as they bring their season to a close. First up is the Mullingar Area League blitz in St. Loman’s Lakepoint Park. All players to be in dressing rooms at 10am sharp. We will be fielding two 10 a side teams who will each play 3 matches under Go-Games rules. Presentations will take place immediately after and all should be completed by 1pm approx.
Later that day we have our last training session which moves from Friday to Saturday at 5pm with refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse.

Under 14 Final The Downs 2:4 Moate 4:3
On Saturday last we played Moate in the championship final Moate went into an early lead but minutes before halftime The Downs scored a goal to leave us a point behind going into the break. An early goal by Moate gave them a margin they held until the final whistle. Well done to the girls who played with great determination throughout and pushed Moate all the way.
