The Downs Secure Second Title In Six Days
League Winners 2005
The Downs 0-09 St.Lomans 0-05
On Saturday last we played St Lomans away in the league despite only six days after the county final (and the ensuing celebrations) The Downs started the brighter team and went in at halftime 0:6 to 01 ahead. St Lomans tried to bring the challenge to The Downs in the second half but The Downs were always able to keep a secure lead and emerge deserved winners.
Before this match The Downs were leading the league and St Lomans second, by virtue of this win The Downs secured the league title. It is unfortunate that the League trophy was not available for presentation after the match to allow Barry Conroy to receive a second trophy for The Downs Gaa Club in front of the large crowd present. .
