The Downs ladies football club has been up and running for the past two years. In 2002 the year the club was formed, we played in the u16 and junior championships. The following year having settled a bit better, the number of players increased and we were able to enter an u12 team along with our u16s and junior teams in various competitions.

Althought no silver-ware has been brought back to the club as yet, a number of our players from u12 right up to senior level are involved with the various county teams, and credit must go to them.

This year the club hopes to expand even more and intends to enter another under-age team, with the advent of some more new players. We encorage, welcome and ask for any under-age or senior players who would like to play for the club to come and join this year.

As we are a growing club, the increase in members means an increase in work load. Therefore along with players we are also currently seeking anyone interested or able in training/managing a team or getting involved in the administrative side of the club. We will be holding our AGM in the coming weeks(date to be arranged). Any nominations or proposals should be with the secretary as soon as possible.

Last but not least the club would like to thank a number of people who have helped us through the year. Firstly I would like to thank The Downs Gaa who have supported us and given us their help and guidance whenever asked. May I take this opportunity to congratulate them on their magnificent championship win and wish them continued success in the coming years. The club would also like to commend and thank all involved for the use of this excellent website.!! A hugh word of thanks must also go to Dermot Egerton who sponsored a much needed set of jerseys for the club. A special word of thanks must also go to Paddy Nolan who gave us a very generous financial contribution during the year, which went towards the running of the club. On the same note, Tony Crowley is also thanked for his generous donation.
